Did you know they have specialist Learning Disability service in CAMHS?
Even work colleagues and CWD team didn't know this service existed
We attended Benj final appointment yesterday and their Doctor was there ... 'normal' CAMHS are moving us over to them as they are a more specialist service and can help with Benj's sleeping, toileting, and sensory issues such as his squealing, screaming and constant spinning.
You need to have a complex issues as well as a severe LD which Benj doesn't have; he's statemented as Mild LD, but Dr Beverly feels given his issues with speech and rare visual impairment they are willing to work with us.
When his statement is due to be re-assessed in June they will use a more appropriate assessment scale and not the general ones as used by the ED psych's; she feels he will come out as severe LD
She was amazed how well he can make himself understood using a primative form of signing, sounds & gesturing and is making a 2 hour home visit next next Wednesday to see him in his own environment
