gif  Need to join a gym ... does anyone have any recommendations?

So far I've looked at:
Dragons (LA Fitness) .. to up itself in lycra clad people  gif

Dunes ... to many people  gif

Gymphobics ... which I liked ... but can I really jusify spending that amount of money on myself   gif

Stutlea ... doss hole (only if I was dead would I join) gif

But before I commit any money ... has anyone been to any local gyms? ... doesn't have to have a pool cos I probably never use it anyway

the view as you slog away if fantastic over looking the beach, i had to stop going due to ill health but hope to return one day Smiley

How much was JJB cas!

Gymphobics is £28 pcm but it is only in 1 room.  The staff seemed really nice and it all women all the equipment is modern. No sweaty workout classes gif as it all air machines so I can be in and out within 45 minutes.

I despartely need to do something for myself to de-stress at the end of day and I figure I may as well drop a few dress sizes in the process.

I've had a look on line and for me it will be £36.00 a month cos I can only go in the evenings.

Seems a lot of money to me, as I will probably not go to any classes or use the pool. By the time I'm finished I will be to knackered to swim and guilty about leaving Hubbie with the kids all day

My daughter goes to dunes. As you know she has ASD and doesn't like too many people but she seems to like going there after work, around 4 in the afternoon.

As she works for Sefton she gets a reduced rate but I have no idea how much she pays.

Victoria is fine for me. It's not as swish as JJB but it's a whole lot cheaper. I pay £36 a month for myself and 16 year old. Only downside is lack parking but they do have the use of an area down by the lake.

I went to Dunes and enjoyed it, a lot of people were sent from the hospital for rehab exercise

I use Victoria - mainly because I work in Formby & they have a place here so I can go on the way home. Costs me £25 a month & I can use both branches whenever I want for that. Formby is pretty quiet around 5.30 - no posers & pleasant staff. Don't know about Southport coz I've never used that one (it's easier to get to Formby from Woodvale)

Cheers guys .. Having slept on it I think I will join Gymphobics.

I work really hard and spend very little £ on myself ... so I figure I'm worth it

We go to the Clifton Health Club.  Good sized pool + changing rooms/ sauna/steam room/ gym / jacuzzi.
Everyone is really friendly as well - no stick thin lycra types.

My membership was £170 for twelve months ( Mine can use the gym)
Hubby's was £150 for 14 months (swim only)
Kids were £50 each for 14 months.
Free parking on the Pay& Display on West Street.

They keep sending out flyers in local press about £3.99 per week memberships.

Worth going to have a look.
