hi, my mums boyfriend had a stroke yesterday and is now in hospital my mum can get little information from the ward sister and has been told she can only visit at visiting times which arent till half 2.

As next of kin surely she should be allowed to see him before then she is very worried about him.

does anyone know if next of kin are allowed to visit outside of visiting hours???

When my sister-in-law was in Southport DGH last year we managed to bend the visiting hours a bit by just turning up & being polite & apologetic to the nurses. If you don't push your luck too far they are quite sympathetic in my experience.

I agree with HC - when my mum was in hospital I was able to go in anytime but you have got to be polite

Depends much on the ward as well

my dad was on a high dependency un it and was also a surgical wards, so even after explaining my situation i had to adhere to the visiting times

it depends on the ward, my grandad was on ccu last year after a heart attack and i was only allowed to go in visiting hours despite them having me down as nex of kin, I hope he gets better soon

Still dont know what is going on he has yet to have a ct scan and has not seen the consultant. We are really worried as he seems to be more badly affected that others on the ward. My mum was mainly worried abot the visiting times because she works two jobs and the visiting hours are times when she should be working.
