I went to the imformation evening at my daughters school last night. There was a very poor turnout of parents.
I had a word with the school nurse and the primary trust woman after the meeting. I asked about side effects. They said "We've had no fainting!" I said i wasn't convinced about the length of time it had been tested and the fact that it would be four years before we would know if it worked. I mentioned that i had a son who we believe was damaged my the MMR vaccine. She basically called Dr Wakefield a liar.
My daughter will not be having the jab.

My problem with this drug is the implementation of it to certain age groups.   They are supposed to be issuing it free, to the 13/14/15/16 yr olds...  Now my experience of some of the young ones these days that quite a large  number of thes age groups are sexually active...and thats is when the cervical cancer gene becomes active also.   They maintian that giving it to these 'non-sexual' active age groups will of a great benefit in their future.
Now i wonder how many girls will actually admit they really shouldnt be getting it..due to the fact they 'technically' dont qualify.
Will they inform the nurse/doctor giving it to them, will they admit it in front of a parent?

I dont think so gif

Got the consent form today and the leaflet. I asked a question at the information night and asked if they could vaccinate my daughter without my permission and they said no. In the leaflet it says the decision is the girls! She's 12 years old! I have filled the part in that says i don't want her to have it and i've given my reasons. I am thinking about keeping her off the day its done in case there is some "mix up" and the give her the injection.

well I thought long and hard and read so much info on the internet that my brain turned to mush but I eventually decided my daughter would have the vaccination and she had hers today

can't imagine how hard it must be for you guys to decide

i suppose at the end of the day if the child is mature enough, they should get a say it is their lives

Have you sat down with your daughter and discussed it or asked your daughter what she she thinks about it Lesley?

I totally understand where you are coming from with regards to the MMR (I won't let mine have it until he's 5) but these injections are very different ... your daughter could over rule your decision for her not to have the injections

Groovy i have talked about it at great length with my daughter. I even spoke to the nurse again on the phone today. I have to go with gut instinct. Three other mums have opted out as well, so i know its not just me being paranoid.

Chaos you must report her symptoms to your doctor. It said that in the leaflet. I hope she feels better soon.
