quite a few people seem to be having this same specific error. it looks like the fault is with avg's update servers, and not your software.. hopefully wait a day or two & try letting it update again, with any luck they'll fix the missing file in the download given time.

possibly if you were desperate to get it updated, you could download the manual update archive & do it that way.

to be absolutely honest i'd have to say i don't know. I would *imagine* you would still be protected up to the last update, but you would not be protected against any malware included in the most recent update.

but.. not sure. i don't know if avg would vomit if it can't cant get an update when it wants it..

try the manual update files above. download them, I'll try and dig up the gory details of how to install them once you've got them downloaded to your desktop

First, the required files should be downloaded from AVG to some directory.
From the AVG console, user should then click 'Tools' --> Update From Directory and point to the directory where the files were downloaded. AVG will identify the files and proceed to the update.

- so it shouldn't harm to download all the files on that page to be safe, stick them all together in a directory called say 'avgupdate' on your desktop, then point avg at that folder & let it do it's stuff.

ok to make it as easy as poss, go to avg's download page i posted above, and download the very first link on the page. the one that says 'all required thingamejigs' or somesuch.

then let us know when you have got it sat on the desktop.

CORRECTION.. do 'em all. Download all 4 files. the top one is dated july 4th, the others are later..
