Don't throw out those old half-full cans of Ronson gas

When, chomping away on your nicotine gum, you leave an errant piece on the desk, then absent-mindedly splosh the elbow of your best shirt right down in the middle of it, you can use that old gas to get the gum out of the fabric, as I just discovered

Clamp a fork over the nozzle as a handle, and give the offending mess a good long blast of liquid butane.

It will go very cold.

The gum will then go shatter-prone like glass and can be pulled off easily. Well most of it anyway.

Disclaimer: do not do this in the cupboard under the stairs whilst in the company of a small child in posession of a box of matches
