I was watching Tony Robinson digging a hole in the ground again earlier on Smiley love Time Team

It got me to thinking, when I was a young teenager a neighbour helped me build a metal detector out of some plans. It never really worked that well but me & a bunch of mates had a whale of a time with it, course, we were all convinced we were going to find buried treasure and become rich and famous gif

Never mind the fact that most of our archaeological investigations were conducted upon the site of the recently landscaped and grassed-over local tip - think our most ancient find was a 1975 coke can  gif

Anybody ever had a go at a bit of amateur archaeology? or fossil collecting maybe?
