I dont recognise the building on the left so could it be Birkdale or Ainsdale village?      gif

Am thinking Chapel Street ~ maybe Boots was on the corner of Tulketh Street? Take a look at the buildings in this old pic of Eastbank St/Chapel St corner.

MFY726 This combination was issued from 1956 by Southport County Borough Council
HFY726 This combination was issued from 1951 by Southport County Borough Council
http://www.numberplates.com/issued.asp
Just a small nugget of info but 'every little helps'

Could do with some 1950's bus timetables

The Boots shop on the corner is where the Bradford and Bingley BS is now.
The bus is turning off Chapel st onto Eastbank st.
Bus Reg no HFY 726 was new in July 1952.

Thanks for your help PW.................... gif

Iv just looked at my Chaple street pics, the buildings that i said are not correct as the Chaple would be there, are infact just after where the corner Chaple stood......

The buildings are Primark now..... gif

The Chaple would have been just off to the left of the pic.............. gif

Yes definately Chapel Street/Eastbank Street corner.  A policeman would have been on point duty standing on a while wooden platform there. I used to 'conduct' on that bus when I was 18!

Can't get my head straight on this one - is the viewer looking up Chapel street toward the train station, or is it a view along Eastbank street toward Lord street?

At first i thought the building was above where Hewitts is on Eastbank Street.......the building behind the bus is where Primark is now just before BHS
