2000, 2001? Ford Focus

Petrol injection

Fault: cutting out intermittently / stalling / intermittent rough idle.

About 200 miles ago, suffered a coil failure & had a replacement coil/distributor/ignition 'black box'

Also had a service while it was in for that. Oil flush & change, new airfilter, new plugs.

Was okay (was great!) after the coil was fixed & service done, but 200 or so miles / couple of weeks later, gone strange again.

Can't see anything wrong on the usual basic home mechanic inspection. No smoke, mayo in the oil cap etc..

Question is - I'd like to have a look at the self-diagnostic log. How easy is it to do this? What equipment is needed?

If it's an RS232 lead, a bit of leaked software and a PC would be made up to hear what's what..

If it's a £5000 training course, a huge blue box on wheels with 4 monitors and the need to pretend you is a ford dealer.. lol where'll do it for me.

One thing I haven't thought of actually is the fuel pump/filter. Hmm

Any ideas?

Looks like I need an EOBD (European On-Board Diagnostics) compliant fault code reader for Ford vehicles with the EEC-V ECU.

Erm.. anyone got a spare one of them knocking around
