I had the same prob with my XP Lurks....

I know iv seen it but cant remember where...so i think iv seen it when i got my PC and i  seam to remember clicking it but to be told i had to use "+" DVDs and i only had "-" ones...
so the option to creat the disc was removed as id effectivly clicked it..........

I then sent for the discs from Dell....even tho i can system recover from a partition on "C" drive....the option to creat my own has gone.....

Run a search for "recovery" etc

I know it's there somewhere matey, I've used it before, normally you get the option on screen once when you buy your new laptop, but there is a command for it too. gif

I've tried every combination of words I can think of in search, ..........but computer says NO! gif

Iv just been on to Dell support and they say it will have been in...

But thats just for a Dell...but have a look on yours.....

They also said if its been clicked the option is removed even if you didnt create a disc.......

found it, this laptop is a gateway, it's in the manufactures bit, although it is in START - ALL PROGRAMS - SYSTEM RECOVERY - CREATE MY DRIVERS-APPLICATIONS CD's

It's creating a recovery DVD as I type, well I hope it is.

thanks anyway qwaz, you're a star. gif
