I feel like a DJ, doing requests

Found that old diesel injector at the back of my toolbox so here goes

I believe I mentioned that the business end isn't particularly interesting to look at

Here's the more familiar end, without any of the pipes connected

A very familiar name in automotive circles

So let's take it to bits - this is what you first see when you unscrew the 2 halves

and in the top half we find these

in the bottom half

Hope these have satisfied your curiosity buddy

Thanks for looking

Ahh.. are they 100%, purely, mechanical operation.. operated by pulses of pressure from the diesel pump.. not by electrical impulses like on a petrol injection engine..

I guess the petrol injectors must be little works of art!

Yeah mate, diesel injectors are purely mechanical - basically a compact system of check valves & bypasses designed to permit fuel to pass through at very high pressure at specified intervals, all controlled by the injector pump.
Petrol injection on the other hand, as you say, is electrically controlled, with the pump providing constant fuel pressure & the injectors opening & closing very rapidly in response to electronic pulses (which in turn are provided by some very complicated electrics which I don't really understand lol)
I can't say I've ever tried to dismantle a petrol injector, but you've got me thinking now.............

Sink one into a cube of [epoxy resin / potting compound / fibreglass resin]-? then run it through a bandsaw? Nice cutaway view?

mmm, not sure about that idea tbh - I'd have to be VERY sure there was no petrol at all in the injector before I'd risk anything that might cause sparks/heat.
might get some nice pics of a small bonfire I suppose
