Spent most of my day guarding this little fellow from the cats.  He fell out of his nest this morning and has been in my back garden.  In the end went and got my next door neighbour to see if he could help the poor little mite as mum seems to have abandoned him now.

He is going to try and get him back in th nest, but he thinks he is the runt he is a lot smaller than the other chicks who have already found their wings and one of his eyes are damaged

awww, look at him (or her)!! see a hell of alot of these magpies where i work in Birkdale, and they are truly gorgeous, but loud, and grow like hell!! Watch out Cas, you know what magpies are like!! hide your silver, could be an undercover 'mag-spy'!!

'Fraid i found one who had succumb to that fate last week in my garden..............now the culprit could have been my cat or her b/f   gif

A friend of mine had a Partridge nesting in her flower bed....
Her dog and cat would not go near her whilst she was sitting on her nest....
Once the chicks hatched it was lovely to see them following mum around the garden
eventually they wandered out into the fields but still returned to their nest of an evening
One day the neighbours Terrier dog killed mother partridge and the baby's fled into the fields
I was worried sick for them wondering if they could fend for themselves, I have been told that baby partridges usually leave their mother soon after hatching and that they are very hardy little things.
I only wish that I had taken some pictures of her whilst she was nesting, but I didn't want to disturb her....
I would also wish to say "Good luck little birdies"..... gif
