A picnics-style event due to be held in Victoria Park on Saturday 26th July. Opening 6pm thru 11pm, the evening
will begin with a special performance of Sefton Schools Opera project 'Itoku'. The opera tells the story of the
villagers of Itoku and their journey into slavery from Benin to Liverpool, and will involve around 400 young people
from across the region. The full programme of the main performance by Royal Liverpool Philharmonic Orchestra
with conductor Vasily Petrenko has yet to be finalised, however they will be performing a selection of popular
classical music. Both advance and gate tickets are availsble ranging from £13 to £22, contact Southport Summer

2nd & 3rd August 2008 will mark the 37th annual show at RAF Woodvale near Southport, UK which as ever promises
a multitude of quality family entertainment including: Vintage and Classic car & motorcycle rally,
demonstrations of restored vintage aero powerplants, vintage military vehicles, model aircraft flying and

Southport Flower Show will take place 21st to 24th August 2008 and will join the region's celebrations
promoting Liverpool as European Capital of Culture to help celebrate the heritage, architecture, culture
and arts of this great city. Now in its 79th year, Southport Flower Show is one of the largest, most diverse

Southport Airshow is recognised as the largest Airshow in the North West UK and this fantastic family
event attracts up to 150,000 spectators over two days. The comprehensive flying programme
includes the spectacular Red Arrows, military and civilian aircraft, Jets, helicopters,
aerobatics and parachute displays.
This year the airshow will be held on Saturday the 6th and Sunday the 7th of September.
The hugely popular British Musical Fireworks Championships have been running now for 10 years in Southport, and this year will see them
held during the period 3rd - 5th October. Tickets range from £4 to £20 with a limited amount of reserved seating being available.
This year, returning champions, all top professional UK firework companies, will each present roughly quarter-hour long displays.
The aerial displays which will be synchronised to music, will take advantage of the reflective opportunities afforded by Southport's
Marine Lake.

11 days of fun from 23 October to 2 November 2008. The Southport Comedy week is held at various venues
throughout Southport including the Southport Arts Centre and the Southport Theatre & Floral Hall.
Previous highlights have included Jimmy Carr, Barry Cryer and Jeff Green. For further details contact
